The selection of bagpipe music during a wedding day is thoughtfully curated to complement and enhance the atmosphere at each stage of the celebration, adding a touch of tradition, flair, and emotional resonance.

As the day progresses, different styles of bagpipe music are employed to create distinct moods and evoke specific sentiments. Here's an overview of how the choice of bagpipe music may vary throughout the various stages of a wedding with examples of tunes:

Guest Arrival - typically 30 minutes to 1 hour:

Bride down the aisle : typically a nice, slow and melodic tune:

  • Highland Cathedral

  • Amazing Grace

  • Skye Boat Song

  • She Moved Through the Fair

  • Caledonia

Something a little more modern:

  • Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley

Bride and Groom up the aisle - typically something a little more upbeat:

  • Mairi's Wedding

  • The Highland Wedding

  • Donald MacLean of Lewis

  • Mrs Lily Christie

  • The Green Hills of Tyrol

Something a little more modern:

  • 500 Miles - The Proclaimers

What tunes can you play? - Funeral

Traditional Scottish piping music holds a profound significance in the context of funerals, providing a means for family and friends to deeply reflect upon and commemorate their departed loved ones in a manner that surpasses the limitations of verbal expression.

At funerals, it is customary to perform slow airs and laments, which evoke a somber and contemplative ambiance. These melodies carry immense emotional weight and have become time-honored choices among grieving families. Some of the most cherished tunes frequently selected for funerals include:

  • Amazing Grace

  • Highland Cathedral

  • Skye Boat Song

  • Going Home

  • Flowers of the Forest

  • Mist Covered Mountains

  • Flower of Scotland

Can you provide a drummer?

Absolutely! I understand the importance of creating a complete and captivating musical experience for your event. I have established relationships with a talented pool of snare drummers with whom I work with regularly.

Rest assured, arranging a snare drummer to accompany a piper is something that can be easily facilitated.

Contact me to discuss your specific needs, and I will ensure that your event is enhanced with the dynamic combination of the pipes and drums.

What areas do you cover?

As a bagpiper, my services primarily cover Glasgow and the central belt region, extending through to Edinburgh. However, I have had the privilege of performing in various locations across a wide geographic range.

While my main focus is on serving clients in Glasgow and the surrounding areas, I have also taken part in events from Durness in the Highlands, extending all the way down to Bristol in England. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to showcase my bagpiping skills even in Germany.

No matter the location, I strive to bring the skirl of the bagpipes to events and occasions, creating a memorable experience for you and your guests. Please feel free to contact me for further inquiries regarding my availability in your specific area.
